Halloween 2 (2009)
Halloween 2 is the latest Halloween movie and also one of the best. Its one of the most brutal movies you'll see and at some point you will be shocked. The movie is mainly about Michael Myers trying to find his sister and reuniting the family and how Laurie, Dr. Loomis, Annie, and Sheriff Brackett handle the tragedy of Michaels previous murders in the last movie. I feel that some of the screen time should've been more devoted to more character and story development. Sure the kills were very well done but some of them were just in there to be in there.
Rob Zombies characters are often referred to as white trash and that they are. Its not a problem though because his characters aren't seen very much in movies really ever. Its interesting to see how Laurie and everyone else has changed since the last movie. Only if there was more of that and less of the constant killing scenes.

The style of the movie is very unique and the tone is much darker than the last. It really does make "Halloween" (2007) look like "The Sound of Music". Its nice to see a sequel feel so much different and not be a rehash of its predecessor.
A lot of people don't like the dream sequences and hallucinations in this movie but I think there very fun to look at and also very well done. There not unnecessary either they give Michael depth and keep him from being a one dimensional character unlike he was in the previous franchise. Some people say that the more mystery the more scary Michael was and even if that is true this is a new take and its not the original series which I think is a good thing.
So while this was a slight disappointment its a nice and unique departure for the series with an ending that is really satisfying.

Jennifer's Body
Jennifer's Body is up there this year with the better horror movies. Especially because its not a damn remake as most have been this year. But really what makes this movie great is the lack of focus on kills and the focus on the fun story and characters. I like seeing horror movies or in this case a horror comedy in which theres more to it than just funny lines and gruesome deaths which I think in this movie should have been more gruesome. The director was angling to keep it more atmospheric which I don't think she really succeeded at and with it being such a funny movie very graphic kills could've helped it be scary as well as funny.
Everybody is constantly riffing on Megan Fox saying she did horrible but she didn't. I think she did what was necessary for the part and deserves a lot more credit. Amanda Seyfried is definitely the standout of the movie. Not much of a surprise as she is awesome. I also am very happy with Diablo's writing and the fact that whatever she gets her hands on she makes sure you know its her who wrote it. People complain about her "hipster" dialog which I find entertaining. It sets her apart from other writers and no one ever said all movies had to have realistic dialog that would probably happen in real life. This movie is campy, fun, and has its own delicious twang thanks to Diablo and love or hate her writing she is a great writer.
The movie was very satisfying and kept you immersed throughout the whole thing. Don't listen to people who say it sucked if it looks good to you see it because it is very good.
